Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Manufacturing Day
WHEREAS, one of the fundamental strengths of Virginia's economy is its vibrant and globally competitive manufacturing sector; and
WHEREAS, manufacturing creates state and local wealth by adding value to raw materials through skilled labor and substantial investments in technology, tools, and energy; and
WHEREAS, manufacturing contributes $54.7 billion to gross state product, accounts for $15.5 billion of the Commonwealth’s goods exports to the global economy, and employs 239,500 of Virginia's private-sector workers at more than 5,000 establishments; and
WHEREAS, the average annual compensation for a manufacturing job in Virginia exceeds $91,000; and
WHEREAS, manufacturers’ bold response to the Commonwealth’s critical infrastructure needs remains essential to our future safety and security; and
WHEREAS, manufacturers drive innovation, depend upon efficient and affordable energy, and compete with both domestic and global markets to remain successful; and
WHEREAS, Virginia’s manufacturing sector includes industries of national importance such as pharmaceuticals, semiconductors, aerospace and defense, food and beverage, and advanced manufacturing, which strengthen supply chains and support American competitiveness; and
WHEREAS, manufacturers in Virginia also create apprenticeships that provide a job-first pathway to a career in manufacturing, preparing the next generation of skilled workers; and
WHEREAS, Manufacturing Day highlights career opportunities in the industry and educates the public about the vital role manufacturing plays in Virginia’s economic prosperity; and
WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia is committed to supporting our manufacturers, encouraging their growth and prosperity, and raising public awareness that Manufacturing Makes Virginia;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize October 3, 2025, as MANUFACTURING DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
