By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Mother's Day

WHEREAS, the first love known to a child is the love of a mother, a bond that transcends the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual; and

WHEREAS, a mother’s devotion to the well-being of her child surpasses herself, her priorities and needs; and

WHEREAS, a mother’s arms are a refuge, her hands provide care, and her eyes reflect adoration, worry and joy; and

WHEREAS, a mother’s heart is overflowing with unconditional love; and

WHEREAS, a mother’s guidance and instruction shapes the moral fabric and character of our young Virginians by teaching them kindness, compassion, humility, and honesty – qualities needed for tomorrow’s successful leaders; and

WHEREAS, mothers throughout Virginia dedicate themselves to the monumental task of influencing and touching the lives of children, families, and communities throughout our Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, we set aside this day each year to express love and respect for our mothers and to reflect on the importance of motherhood in strengthening the Spirit of Virginia;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize May 14, 2023, as MOTHER’S DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
