Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia
By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Mother's Day
WHEREAS, the first love known to a child is the love of a mother, a bond that transcends the physical, psychological, emotional and spiritual; and,
WHEREAS, a mother’s devotion to the well-being of her child surpasses herself, her priorities and needs; and,
WHEREAS, a mother’s arms are a refuge, her hands provide care and her eyes reflect adoration, worry and joy; and,
WHEREAS, a mother’s heart is overflowing with unconditional love; and,
WHEREAS, a mother’s guidance and instruction shapes the moral fabric and character of our young Virginians by teaching them kindness, compassion, humility and honesty – qualities needed to be tomorrow’s leaders; and,
WHEREAS, mothers throughout Virginia dedicate themselves to the monumental task of influencing and touching the lives of children, families and communities throughout our Commonwealth; and,
WHEREAS, we set aside this day each year to express love and respect for our mothers and to reflect on the importance of motherhood in strengthening the Spirit of Virginia;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize May 8, 2022 as MOTHER’S DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
