WHEREAS, the people of Virginia are concerned with meeting the healthcare needs of Virginia’s population; and

WHEREAS, a neuroscience nurse is a medical professional who helps patients suffering from neurological problems, including injuries, such as head and spinal trauma from accidents, or illnesses, such as Parkinson’s disease, meningitis, encephalitis, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis; and

WHEREAS, neuroscience nurses also work with patients suffering from strokes and congenital disabilities that have affected the nervous system; and

WHEREAS, neuroscience nurses are a vital and indispensable component in the safety and quality of patient care; and

WHEREAS, neuroscience nurses make a positive contribution to healthcare in Virginia; and

WHEREAS, patients rely on the skills, knowledge and expertise of neuroscience nurses, one of the most specialized areas of medicine in the world;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize May 15-21, 2022 as NEUROSCIENCE NURSES WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
