By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Parents' Day

WHEREAS, parents across the Commonwealth devote their time and effort to ensuring a better future for their children by instilling principles and good moral character; and,

WHEREAS, parents raise responsible, giving, and patriotic children by teaching values and customs that reinforce and uplift the traditions of our nation and Commonwealth; and,

WHEREAS, we applaud parents who manage the numerous demands of everyday life while raising their children; and,

WHEREAS, being a parent is one of the most challenging and rewarding life experiences; and,

WHEREAS, all parents—biological, guardian, adoptive, foster, and kin caregivers—matter and have a crucial and fundamental role in their children’s upbringing; and,

WHEREAS, parents provide essential emotional and developmental support for their children, preparing them to be fulfilled, encouraged, and ready for the next steps in their lives through youth and into adulthood; and,

WHEREAS, Virginia Code affirms that parents have the absolute right to make decisions concerning the upbringing, education, and care of their children; and,

WHEREAS, in order to ensure that all children grow up to be exceptional future leaders and innovators, the Commonwealth of Virginia empowers all parents to give their very best efforts to the children in their care, the children in their homes, and the children in our communities; and,

WHEREAS, in 1994, the United States Congress designated the fourth Sunday in July as National Parents' Day to highlight and underscore the significance of good parenting and the crucial role that parents play in raising their children;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize July 24, 2022 as PARENTS’ DAY in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA and call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
