Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia
By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Pediatric Brain Cancer Awareness Day
WHEREAS, pediatric brain cancer stands as the most frequently diagnosed and deadliest childhood cancer in the United States; and
WHEREAS, Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma (DIPG), the most fatal childhood cancer, is the second most common type of brain cancer in children and accountable for most pediatric brain tumor fatalities annually; and
WHEREAS, there is an urgent need to enhance awareness surrounding pediatric brain cancer to generate additional research funding that is crucial for discovering a cure; and
WHEREAS, on Pediatric Brain Cancer Awareness Day, citizens are encouraged to increase awareness about the disease to promote further research for treatment options and an eventual cure;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize May 17, 2024, as PEDIATRIC BRAIN CANCER AWARENESS DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
