Registered Dietitian Nutritionist Day

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

WHEREAS, registered dietitian nutritionists are the food and nutrition experts who translate the science of nutrition into practical solutions for healthy living; and

WHEREAS, registered dietitian nutritionists have degrees in nutrition, dietetics, public health, or a related field from well-respected, accredited colleges and universities, completed an internship and passed an examination; and

WHEREAS, registered dietitian nutritionists use their nutrition expertise to help individuals make unique, positive lifestyle changes; and

WHEREAS, registered dietitian nutritionists work throughout the community in hospitals, schools, public health clinics, nursing homes, fitness centers, food management, food industry, universities, research, and private practice; and

WHEREAS, registered dietitian nutritionists are advocates for advancing the nutritional status of all Virginians and people around the world; and

WHEREAS, the Virginia Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics advocates on behalf of nearly 4,500 registered dietitian nutritionists working across the Commonwealth of Virginia; and

WHEREAS, citizens are encouraged to recognize and appreciate registered dietitian nutritionists for their commitment to promoting science-based nutrition for optimum health;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize March 8, 2023, as REGISTERED DIETITIAN NUTRITIONIST DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
