By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Resilience Week Virginia

WHEREAS, adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) are defined as potentially traumatic events that occur in childhood, such as experiencing violence, abuse, or neglect, which have a tremendous impact across the lifespan of an individual; and,

WHEREAS, building resilience to buffer against potential ACEs may impact the current and future quality of life in the community; and,

WHEREAS, families desire safe and stable communities that provide positive influences and strong role models that foster healthy development; and,

WHEREAS, engaged and highly trained community service members assist our state’s success, prosperity, and quality of life, and their experiences and relationships can make a difference in forming a strong foundation for healthy development and growth in the future; and,

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia encourages all individuals, families, groups, and organizations to work together in efforts to promote and foster resilience to assist in the development of positive childhood experiences and strengthening the bond within our communities;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize May 1-7, 2022 as RESILIENCE WEEK VIRGINIA in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
