Richmond Navy Week

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Richmond Navy Week

WHEREAS, the City of Richmond is honored to have the presence of the United States Navy in our community; and,

WHEREAS, the United States Navy, the maritime service branch of the United States Armed Forces, protects America at sea, alongside our allies, to defend our freedom across the globe and at home; and,

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia is home to more than 10,800 active-duty enlisted sailors, over 3,500 active-duty naval officers and more than 5,700 Navy Reservists; and,

WHEREAS, the United States Navy is instrumental in ensuring the safety and security of $2.2 billion in annual exports from the Commonwealth of Virginia; and,

WHEREAS, the citizens of Virginia take great pride in supporting our namesake vessels USS Virginia and USS Gravely; and,

WHEREAS, Richmond Navy Week hosts special events and programs for the city to increase the community’s knowledge and understanding of the United States Navy and its global mission;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize May 16-22, 2022 as RICHMOND NAVY WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
