By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Salvadoran-American Day

WHEREAS, Virginia is home to one of the largest populations of the Salvadoran diaspora; and, 

WHEREAS, Virginia’s Salvadoran-American community enriches the Commonwealth with its traditions, food, and culture, while also serving as a significant contributor to the workforce and economic growth in Virginia; and, 

WHEREAS, individual Salvadorans and community leaders work to educate new Salvadoran-American citizens on civics and their patriotic duties; and, 

WHEREAS, on July 18, 2006, the United States Congress recognized the contributions of the Salvadoran community by formalizing August 6th as “Salvadoran-American Day in United States;” and, 

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia celebrates Salvadoran history, culture, and unity with Salvadoran-American and Latin American families, organizers, and participants throughout Virginia; 

NOW THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize August 6, 2022 as SALVADORAN-AMERICAN DAY in the Commonwealth of Virginia and call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
