Proclamation List- School Counseling Week

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

School Counseling Week

WHEREAS, school counselors work diligently in public and private schools to help students become ready for life; and

WHEREAS, school counselors are valued members of the school team who work to provide tools for academic success, readiness for their next step, and emotional well-being for their students; and

WHEREAS, school counselors are actively committed to helping students explore their abilities, strengths, skills, interests, and talents to ensure students are prepared for success in life through enrollment, enlistment, or employment after graduating; and

WHEREAS, school counselors help parents and families focus on ways to further the educational, personal, and social growth of their children; and

WHEREAS, school counselors work with teachers and other educators to help students explore their potential pathways, flexible personalized learning, and advanced coursework options; and

WHEREAS, school counselors seek to identify and utilize community resources that can enhance and complement comprehensive school counseling programs and help students become productive members of society and the workforce; and

WHEREAS, comprehensive developmental school counseling programs are considered an integral part of the educational process that enables every student to achieve success in school and life;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize February 3-7, 2025, as SCHOOL COUNSELING WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
