Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Tae Kwon Do Day
WHEREAS, the participation in martial arts builds strength, character, focus, flexibility, and coordination while enhancing performance in other sports, in the workplace, at home, and in school; and
WHEREAS, martial arts enhance self-esteem, goal-setting abilities, anger management, and the skills of non-violent conflict resolution in people of all ages and assist participants to become more productive and healthy; and
WHEREAS, martial arts provide a powerful foundation for emotional development and success skills that last a lifetime; and
WHEREAS, Tae Kwon Do Day seeks to introduce the values of self-control, self-discipline, personal defense, and physical fitness to Virginians of every age, race, gender, and ability level; and
WHEREAS, on July 2, 2022, citizens of the Commonwealth will celebrate Tae Kwon Do Day to unite millions of children and adults who participate in the martial arts;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize July 2, 2022, as TAE KWON DO DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
