Proclamation List- Teacher Appreciation Week

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Teacher Appreciation Week

WHEREAS, teachers are trusted, respected professionals who should be elevated, empowered, and supported to do their best work and to provide high-quality, innovative learning experiences that serve all students; and

WHEREAS, research shows that teacher quality is the most important factor in student success; and

WHEREAS, teachers help students grow their talents, pursue their interests, and support their needs, equipping them to lead successful and fulfilling lives; and

WHEREAS, teachers and parents, who know children best, must be empowered to work together to meet each student’s needs to prepare him or her for success in life, regardless of a child’s zip code, income, or background; and

WHEREAS, teachers are committed to professional learning, embracing innovation and excellence; and

WHEREAS, the success of Virginia’s dedicated teachers in helping students realize their full potential positively contributes to the future of the Commonwealth’s workforce, economy, and communities; and

WHEREAS, every Virginian can recall a great teacher who made a lasting impact on their life or the life of a loved one, and we express our gratitude to those educators and all educators during Teacher Appreciation Week and always;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize May 5-9, 2025, as TEACHER APPRECIATION WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
