By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

The Centennial of the Middle Atlantic Section of the Professional Golfers' Association

WHEREAS, the Middle Atlantic PGA (MAPGA) Section was established on March 2, 1925, as one of the 41 nationwide sections of the Professional Golfers’ Association of America (PGA), one of the world’s largest sports organizations composed of over 32,000 PGA golf professionals who serve as expert coaches, operators, and business leaders; and

WHEREAS, the MAPGA has grown to become one of the largest sections of the PGA, encompassing over 1,200 PGA of America golf professionals and apprentices who are dedicated to advancing the game of golf and enhancing the golfing experience for players in Virginia, Maryland, the District of Columbia, and parts of Pennsylvania and West Virginia; and

WHEREAS, the MAPGA's members manage the golf experience for over 900,000 golfers annually, facilitating more than 16.5 million rounds of golf in the Middle Atlantic region and serving as ambassadors of the game’s core values of integrity, sportsmanship, and respect; and

WHEREAS, the MAPGA is a leader in player development, offering innovative programs to grow the game of golf, while its members contribute to their communities by supporting charitable initiatives that collectively raise over $6 million each year for local causes; and

WHEREAS, the MAPGA’s Centennial celebrates a century of excellence, professional development, and service to the game of golf, marking an extraordinary milestone in the organization’s history and its ongoing mission to enrich lives through golf; and

WHEREAS, Virginians are encouraged to join in celebrating this significant milestone and honoring the Middle Atlantic Section of the Professional Golfers’ Association for its enduring contributions to the game of golf and to our communities;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize March 2, 2025, as the CENTENNIAL OF THE MIDDLE ATLANTIC SECTION OF THE PROFESSIONAL GOLFERS’ ASSOCIATION in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
