By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

The Miyares Family Day

WHEREAS, Jason Miyares is a champion of freedom and democracy, possessing qualities instilled in him by his mother, Miriam Maria Miyares, a Cuban immigrant who fled Communist Cuba in 1965; and, 

WHEREAS, Jason Miyares attended public schools in Virginia Beach before continuing his education at James Madison University and the College of William and Mary School of Law; and, 

WHEREAS, Jason Miyares began his path to becoming the first Hispanic American to hold statewide public office in Virginia by serving as Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney for the City of Virginia Beach, working to protect our families by keeping the most violent criminals off the street; and, 

WHEREAS, Miyares continued public service in the House of Delegates from 2015 to 2021 serving as a strong conservative voice in our General Assembly; and, 

WHEREAS, Jason Miyares was elected to the office of Attorney General of Virginia in 2021; and, 

WHEREAS, his commitment to hard work, love of country, and service above self, are all strong values taught by his family and exhibited through his servant-leadership for constituents, his dedication to justice for all, and his defense of victims of crime;and, 

WHEREAS, his dedication to enforce the law and protect the innocent is rooted in a belief in the American Miracle, and our nation’s commitment to liberty, our Constitution, and the Rule of Law; and, 

WHEREAS, Attorney General Jason Miyares, his wife, Page Atkinson Miyares, and their daughters are commended for their significant contribution to making our Commonwealth the best place to live, work, and raise a family; 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize October 11, 2022 as THE MIYARES FAMILY DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
