Proclamation List- Virginia Girls State: A Tradition of Excellence in Leadership

By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Virginia Girls State: A Tradition of Excellence in Leadership

WHEREAS, Virginia Girls State, a proud tradition of the American Legion Auxiliary, has shaped generations of future leaders through hands-on education in citizenship, government, and leadership since 1947; and

WHEREAS, the American Legion Auxiliary, through its deep commitment to patriotism and mentorship, offers this transformative program to rising high school seniors, encouraging them to become informed, engaged citizens who act with integrity and purpose; and

WHEREAS, the 78th session of Virginia Girls State will convene from June 15 to June 20, 2025, at Longwood University, offering delegates a dynamic experience as they establish a mock government, campaign for elected office, and thoughtfully debate the issues that shape our communities; and

WHEREAS, this year’s theme, “Leading with Courage, Inspiring Change,” reflects the heart of Virginia Girls State to equip participants to lead with conviction, speak with purpose, and serve with compassion—qualities that prepare tomorrow’s leaders and strengthen the fabric of our Commonwealth; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth proudly supports and celebrates Virginia Girls State for its enduring dedication to empowering young leaders, and we commend the American Legion Auxiliary for its steadfast commitment to uplifting the next generation of thoughtful, principled citizens;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize VIRGINIA GIRLS STATE in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens in honor of its mission to inspire young women to lead with courage, compassion, and conviction.
