WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizes the positive impact that experiential learning has on preparing students for success in life; and

WHEREAS, all students in Virginia should have access to experiential learning opportunities; and

WHEREAS, experiential learning opportunities such as work-based learning are important to the economic vitality of the Commonwealth and its communities; and

WHEREAS, work-based learning serves to connect students’ skills and competencies gained from education with those used in the workplace; and

WHEREAS, the Virginia Talent + Opportunity Partnership, a Virginia statewide internship initiative, seeks to advance work-based learning in higher education; and

WHEREAS, on the last Thursday in July, National Intern Day is celebrated across the country by millions of students, higher education institutions, employers and other organizations; and

WHEREAS, in recognition of National Intern Day, Virginia is committed to elevating awareness, advancing meaningful and diverse work-based learning opportunities and acknowledging those involved in internships in Virginia: students, education institutions and employers; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizes the importance of internships as Virginia strives to be the best place to live, work and raise a family;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize July 28, 2022, as VIRGINIA INTERN DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
