Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia
By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Virginia Pharmacists Month
WHEREAS, pharmacists are health-care professionals licensed to dispense prescription medications, monitor drug interactions, administer vaccines, and counsel patients regarding the effects and proper usage of drugs and dietary supplements; and
WHEREAS, pharmacists deliver critical services to patients and contribute to the health and well-being of all people; and
WHEREAS, as front-line providers in the healthcare system and community, pharmacists and pharmacy personnel ensure the public is cared for, even at the risk of exposure to illness or disease; and
WHEREAS, pharmacists are ideally suited to work collaboratively with other health care providers to help patients overcome illness and live healthier lives through chronic disease management and effective use of medicines; and
WHEREAS, there are over 16,000 licensed pharmacists and over 12,000 licensed pharmacy technicians in Virginia who improve patient health outcomes through their role as medication experts; and
WHEREAS, Virginia pharmacists continue to innovate and collaborate with healthcare providers to optimize patient care, enhance medication adherence, and improve health outcomes across diverse populations; and
WHEREAS, Virginia's Schools of Pharmacy - The Appalachian College of Pharmacy, Shenandoah University Bernard J. Dunn School of Pharmacy, Virginia Commonwealth University School of Pharmacy, and Hampton University School of Pharmacy - all play a vital role in educating the next generation of pharmacists, ensuring they are well-prepared to meet the evolving healthcare needs of our communities;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize October 2024, as VIRGINIA PHARMACISTS MONTH in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
