By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week

WHEREAS, principals serve as educational leaders, responsible for managing the policies, regulations, and procedures necessary to ensure a safe, vibrant, and effective learning environment for all students in Virginia’s public and private schools; and

WHEREAS, principals must work collaboratively with teachers, staff, students, parents, and the community at-large to prepare every student for success in life—as productive members of our economy, informed citizens in our democracy, and engaged participants in our communities; and

WHEREAS, school principals work cooperatively to direct, develop, and inspire all members of the school staff and student body to embrace and meet high expectations so that every child reaches their potential; and

WHEREAS, principals are critical to creating strong partnerships between school and home that are based on open communication and a culture that welcomes and engages parents in the learning process; and

WHEREAS, principals and teachers are entrusted with the opportunity, responsibility, and trust of parents to guide, direct, nurture, mentor, and impart knowledge to our children while they are at school; and

WHEREAS, Virginia School Principals Appreciation Week is an opportunity to recognize the hard work of Virginia school principals and to recognize the importance of principals in ensuring that every child has access to a high-quality education that opens doors to future opportunities and allows each child to fulfill their dreams;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize January 15-21, 2023, as VIRGINIA SCHOOL PRINCIPALS APPRECIATION WEEK in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
