By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Virginia Victims Fund 45th Anniversary

WHEREAS, every year thousands of Virginians across all racial, social, and economic backgrounds, experience harm due to crimes committed against them; and,

WHEREAS, Virginia Victims Fund, officially known as the Criminal Injuries Compensation Fund, is a state program created in 1977 by the Virginia Compensating Victims of Crime Act under Code of Virginia §19.2-368.1; and,

WHEREAS, the Virginia Victims Fund is hereby dedicated to serving victims and survivors with dignity and respect in the aftermath of crime to help with unanticipated expenses such as medical bills, funeral expenses, and many other expenses; and,

WHEREAS, the Virginia Victims Fund has served over 80,000 crime victims and continues to promote victims’ rights through compensation in Virginia and hereby recommit to safeguarding these rights for survivors; and,

WHEREAS, the Virginia Victims Fund remains committed to ensuring victims’ rights are upheld, increasing access and availability, as well as strengthening its program and services to continue efforts to ease the financial burdens caused by crime in Virginia;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize July 1, 2022 as the 45TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE VIRGINIA VICTIMS FUND in our COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
