Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia
By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Women in Construction Week
WHEREAS, construction remains an essential industry in Virginia, and women play a vital role in sustaining this foundational part of our economy; and
WHEREAS, women from all over the Commonwealth help ensure our continued economic growth through their many contributions to the construction industry as general contractors, subcontractors, executives, architects, engineers, project managers, building surveyors, and trades people; and
WHEREAS, women in construction are role models for young women considering careers in skilled trades, architecture, design, engineering, safety, and carpentry; and
WHEREAS, the National Association of Women in Construction is dedicated to advancing the role of women in the construction industry throughout Virginia and the nation; and
WHEREAS, the Richmond 141, Greater Tidewater 137, Roanoke Valley 226, and the Northern Virginia 393 Chapters of the National Association of Women in Construction have distinguished themselves as the voice of women in construction in the Commonwealth while promoting employment and the advancement of women in the construction industry; and
WHEREAS, the Virginia Chapters of the National Association of Women in Construction have been a driving force in fostering community development through renovation and beautification projects; promotion of skilled trades careers; and a positive vision of the future; and
WHEREAS, the Richmond 141, Greater Tidewater 137, Roanoke Valley 226, and the Northern Virginia 393 Chapters have sought to achieve successful results for the Commonwealth of Virginia and surrounding areas in a cooperative spirit with other organizations; and
WHEREAS, the work done by the Virginia Chapters of the National Association of Women in Construction is dedicated to advancing the role of women in the construction industry while supporting youth educational programs throughout the Commonwealth;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize March 2-8, 2025, as WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION WEEK in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
