By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Women in Construction Week
WHEREAS, Women in Construction Week was established nationally in 1953 by the National Association of Women in Construction to honor and promote the contributions of women in building trades and construction professions, recognizing their role in shaping communities across the United States, including here in Virginia; and
WHEREAS, the construction industry plays a critical role in building and maintaining the infrastructure that supports the economic vitality and quality of life of the Commonwealth of Virginia; and
WHEREAS, women in construction contribute skilled craftsmanship across a wide range of trades and professions, including engineering, project management, safety, skilled trades, and executive leadership; and
WHEREAS, expanding opportunities for women in construction strengthens the workforce, addresses labor shortages, promotes economic mobility, and supports the continued growth of Virginia’s infrastructure and development sectors; and
WHEREAS, the National Association of Women in Construction works to empower women in the construction industry; and
WHEREAS, Women in Construction Week provides an opportunity to recognize the achievements of women in the construction industry and to encourage the next generation of women to pursue careers in construction and related fields;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, Governor, do hereby recognize the week of March 1–6, 2026, as WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION WEEK in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
