Strengthen the Spirit of Virginia
By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:
Women in Construction Week
WHEREAS, the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), founded in 1953, started as a local support network for a small number of women in the construction industry at the time. Nationally chartered in 1955, NAWIC provides its members with opportunities for professional development, education networking, leadership training, public service, and more; and,
WHEREAS, the Richmond 141, Greater Tidewater 137, and Roanoke Valley 226 chapters of NAWIC are distinguished voices promoting the employment and advancement of women in construction; and,
WHEREAS, the construction community has been a driving force behind community development through renovation and beautification projects, promotion of skilled trades, and a positive vision for the future; and,
WHEREAS, Women in Construction Week is an opportunity to recognize the many dedicated workers and volunteers for their steadfast support of women in construction;
NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn Youngkin, do hereby recognize March 6-12, 2022 as WOMEN IN CONSTRUCTION WEEK in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call observance to the attention of all of our citizens.
