WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia recognizes March as Arts in our Schools Month, a month to promote art and art education in schools; and   

WHEREAS, arts education fosters creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and cultural understanding among students of all ages; and   

WHEREAS, access to music, visual arts, theater, dance, and media arts enriches academic achievement and supports the social and emotional development of young people; and   

WHEREAS, the Virginia Coalition for Fine Arts Education promotes equitable access to high-quality arts instruction in every Virginia school; and   

WHEREAS, Arts in Our Schools Month highlights the vital role that arts educators, administrators, families, and community partners play in nurturing the next generation of creative leaders;  

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, Governor, do hereby recognize March 2026, as ARTS IN OUR SCHOOLS MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
