By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Bullying Prevention Month

WHEREAS, all students should be in an engaging, welcoming, and safe educational environment where they learn best; and, 

WHEREAS, it is estimated that more than twenty percent of youth in the United States are involved in bullying each year; and, 

WHEREAS, bullying can assume many forms, including verbal, physical, and cyber, and can happen both on and off school grounds; and, 

WHEREAS, bullying has a detrimental impact on a student’s ability to perform academically and build crucial social and interpersonal skills; and, 

WHEREAS, bullying can have lasting impacts on everyone involved: the person being bullied; bystanders who witness the bullying; and the person who bullies others; and,  

WHEREAS, it is important for Virginia parents, students, teachers, and school administrators to be aware of and address bullying, and to encourage discussion of the problem as a school community; and, 

WHEREAS, active education and prevention can ensure every student has an environment at school in which to excel;  

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Glenn A. Youngkin, do hereby recognize October 2022 as BULLYING PREVENTION MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of our citizens.
