WHEREAS, Careers in Construction Month is observed to recognize construction craft professionals and raise awareness of the rewarding career opportunities available throughout the construction industry; and

 

WHEREAS, the construction industry employs more than 8 million individuals nationwide and is projected to need more than 450,000 additional craft professionals in 2027; and

 

WHEREAS, employers, schools, associations, and community organizations work to connect students and job seekers with education, training, and career opportunities in construction; and

 

WHEREAS, workforce development initiatives support career exploration, promote opportunities in the construction industry, and help address the skilled workforce gap by preparing individuals for rewarding careers in construction and the skilled trades; and

 

WHEREAS, Careers in Construction Month is an opportunity to recognize dedicated construction professionals and the critical role they play in the development of the Commonwealth of Virginia;

 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, Governor, do hereby recognize October 2026 as CAREERS IN CONSTRUCTION MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
