WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia is committed to protecting the lives, property, and well-being of its residents and visitors; and

WHEREAS, emergency management professionals play a critical role in preparing for, responding to, and recovering from natural disasters, public health emergencies, and other various hazards; and

WHEREAS, these professionals serve at the local, regional, state, tribal, federal, nonprofit, and private-sector levels to coordinate resources, develop emergency plans, and keep communities informed and safe; and

WHEREAS, emergency management professionals demonstrate dedication, leadership, and resilience while working to protect Virginians during times of crisis; and

WHEREAS, Emergency Management Professionals Week provides an opportunity to recognize their service and promote the importance of emergency preparedness across the Commonwealth;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, Governor, do hereby recognize June 1–5, 2026, as EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT PROFESSIONALS WEEK in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
