By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

Mediation Month

WHEREAS, mediation provides a voluntary, confidential, and collaborative process for resolving disputes in ways that promote understanding and practical solutions, reflecting Virginia’s legacy as a forum for dialogue since its founding in 1607 and its role in shaping the United States Constitution; and

WHEREAS, mediation supports families, businesses, workplaces, and communities by reducing conflict and fostering constructive dialogue, continuing the Commonwealth’s long‑standing tradition of civic engagement and peaceful dispute resolution; and

WHEREAS, the Virginia Mediation Network and the Virginia Workers' Compensation Commission advance mediation and alternative dispute resolution throughout the Commonwealth, honoring both state and national commitments to fairness, equity, and the rule of law; and

WHEREAS, Mediation Month recognizes the dedicated professionals who facilitate just and equitable resolutions, building upon Virginia’s enduring legacy of legal innovation and public service;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Governor Abigail D. Spanberger, do hereby recognize March 2026 as MEDIATION MONTH in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
