National Voter Registration Day

WHEREAS, voting is one of the most powerful ways citizens can advocate and participate in shaping the future of their communities; and

WHEREAS, National Voter Registration Day serves as an opportunity to encourage all eligible Virginians to register to vote, update their voter registration information as needed, and prepare to participate in upcoming elections; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth recognizes the vital role of community partners—including nonprofit organizations, libraries, colleges and universities, civic groups, and local governments—in providing trusted voter registration resources and assisting eligible citizens with the registration process; and

WHEREAS, the Commonwealth of Virginia is committed to promoting civic engagement by encouraging voter registration, expanding access to the electoral process, and fostering participation among all eligible voters;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, Governor, do hereby recognize September 15, 2026, as NATIONAL VOTER REGISTRATION DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and I call this observance to the attention of all our citizens.
