By virtue of the authority vested by the Constitution of Virginia in the Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, there is hereby officially recognized:

World Voice Day

WHEREAS, the human voice is a fundamental instrument of communication, expression, and participation in civic, professional, and personal life; and

WHEREAS, vocal health is essential for individuals of all ages, supporting education, employment, advocacy, and overall well‑being; and

WHEREAS, millions worldwide live with voice disorders, including spasmodic dysphonia and related conditions, many of which are underrecognized or misdiagnosed; and

WHEREAS, early awareness of voice changes, access to qualified medical and therapeutic care, and increased public understanding improve outcomes and quality of life; and

WHEREAS, World Voice Day promotes vocal health, encourages research and education, and fosters compassion and inclusion for individuals affected by voice disorders;

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Abigail D. Spanberger, do hereby recognize April 16, 2026, as WORLD VOICE DAY in the COMMONWEALTH OF VIRGINIA, and encourage all residents and professionals to recommit to caring for our voices.
